The Spur Hotel
Originally built in 1928, the Historic Spur Hotel was renovated and preserved in 1990 and reopened as a boutique hotel. It has been listed as a "Top Ten Small Hotels in Texas" and is one of few Historic Hotels of Texas left on the Panhandle Plains. The Spur plays host year round to book enthusiasts browsing Larry McMurtry's book stores, guests of the famous Royal Theater, various workshops and retreats, hunters from all over the country, as well as the businessman or family looking for a small town stop in their travel plans.

Murn's Cafe has a great breakfast across the street every day but Sunday. We keep a self-serve breakfast breads, yogurt and coffee station in the lobby.

STAIRS & Parking
We have no elevator and rooms are all on the 2nd and 3rd floor. We have limited street parking but share overflow parking with the Royal Theater green space along the East side of the block.

THINGS TO DO
Larry McMurtry's last bookstore carries a collection of over 150,000 fine, scholarly books within walking distance from The Spur.

Archer county Museum
Open weekends 1-5, the Centennial collection of Archer County history is worth the visit.
Hunters are our favorite guests. If you have a lease and need a place to stay, we are a
hunter-friendly hotel. Lobby has full fridge, microwave, hot plate and coffee/snack bar for guests
Shopping on the square starts at Millwright Flowers and Gifts for the one-of-a-kind gift. Further South is Dusty Cowboy for clothing and gear for the trail.
Catch a show around the block inside the famous Royal Theater. The 1920s rock wall structure was rebuilt and the building next to it renovated into a 220 seat performance venue which reopened in 2000. Check the website for the schedule.
Across from the hotel and open on weekdays before 5 and Saturday, a must-see collection including some local history inside.
